Osteria da Canemorto
Solo exhibition, 2019
San Biagio, Orsenigo (Italy)
Osteria da Canemorto is the second instalment in CANEMORTO’s ongoing series of gastronomic performance exhibitions. For this one-night-only event, the trio took over San Biagio restaurant in Orsenigo, completely subverting the traditional elements of typical popular dining establishments in northern Italy’s Lombardy region.

CANEMORTO crafted a special menu in collaboration with the chef, invited local punk rock band Animal Boy to play regional folk songs, designed the restaurant placemats, and showcased a series of paintings inspired by the typical artwork found in such establishments. Finally, they held a ‘tombola’ raffle game for all diners.

With unlimited wine included, things rapidly got out of hand. In fact, the photographer’s camera ended up in the nearby river, which is why the only documentation of the evening consists of a series of regrettable frames from the video shot by Matteo Berardone.
