Tappeti Pregiati Canemorto
Solo exhibition, 2026
2Rich, Bologna (Italy)
The project turns an exhibition venue into a fully operational carpet store, showcasing and selling various textile works by CANEMORTO straight to the public. Crafted entirely by the artists, the space meticulously mimics a classic 1990s carpet shop down to every last detail, featuring a storefront sign, quality certificates, a cash register, a price list, displayed products, and furnishings. Throughout the event, the three members of CANEMORTO step into the shoes of rug salesmen, welcoming visitors with the bold attitude of street vendors and pushing their wares using classic sales tricks and discounts.

Inside the Tappeti Pregiati Canemorto shop, curious onlookers and experienced art collectors receive the exact same treatment, plunging into an alternate reality in which treating art like a routine everyday commodity, with prices starting at just a few coins, feels weirdly normal. Running for a brief three days, the exhibition was deliberately scheduled to coincide with Bologna's historic art fair, Arte Fiera, while staying completely outside its official circuits. Conceived, produced, and managed entirely by the trio, the initiative functions as a statement of independence from the power structures artists frequently feel pressured to accept.

Tappeti Pregiati Canemorto adds a fresh chapter to a growing body of performance-based exhibitions where CANEMORTO erases the boundary between everyday environments and the art world, questioning market mechanics, how artworks are valued and preserved, and where the line is drawn between fine art and craftsmanship.
